The Village of Gold River on Vancouver Island elects four at-large councillors. Known as the gateway to Nootka Sound, the community is surrounded by mountainous terrain and forests. Historically a pulp mill town, it now focuses on aquaculture and tourism near Strathcona Provincial Park.
